About Us

An ally of every taxpayer in the Philippines

TAXPAYERS Alliance of the Philippines, Inc. (TAPI) exists so accountants, auditors, and business owners can comply with the law — and still be treated fairly.

Mission

Educate. Protect. Encourage honest compliance.

TAPI was organized to stand beside the taxpayer — not opposite the government. We teach the rules so people can follow them. We promote faithful payment of taxes because a democratic government needs revenue. We also insist that collection is done with fairness, honesty, and transparency, and that the legal rights of taxpayers are protected as fully as the government’s right to levy.

Our work includes seminars and briefings, compilation of tax laws and BIR issuances, dialogue with authorities, and practical assistance so members can file, document, and respond to examinations without unnecessary penalties.

Why the organization was formed

The following purposes, drawn from TAPI’s organizing advocacies, guide our seminars, membership work, and public stance:

  1. To be an ally of every taxpayer in the Philippines.
  2. To engage in educating taxpayers.
  3. To promote and motivate faithful compliance with tax obligations so our democratic government can function properly.
  4. To promote public interest through advocacy that protects taxpayers’ rights and equitable tax burdens, and that advances efficiency, fairness, honesty, and transparency in governance.
  5. To study and compile Philippine tax laws — the NIRC, circulars, rulings, memoranda, regulations, and resolutions — and to acquaint members with those issuances.
  6. To undertake activities needed to accomplish the Association’s purposes, including socio-economic projects for members and for Philippine taxpayers in general.
  7. To protect and promote the legal rights of taxpayers, including mobilization of legal assistance in tax-related cases.
  8. To promote a healthy and peaceful relationship between taxpayers and tax authorities.
  9. To act as tax consultant of all bona-fide members of the association.
  10. To promote honest, clean, and effective governance and encourage a supportive citizenry.
  11. To see that the government’s right to levy and collect revenues is enforced, and that the rights and privileges of taxpayers are equally protected.
  12. To cooperate with other organizations of similar aims.
  13. To contribute to the development of the country and the welfare of the people.
  14. To promote the general welfare and protect the interest of the members.
  15. To transact business and acquire, by purchase, lease, or donation, real and personal property useful for the corporation’s purposes.
  16. To engage in trading or merchandising of goods and services related to laws and taxation that help educate every taxpayer.
  17. To safeguard, defend, protect, and promote the rights and interests of members with respect to the government, its agencies, law enforcement, and private third parties.
  18. To promote Philippine cultural heritage and social welfare, and to organize socio-civic and cultural projects that build community consciousness and nationalism.
  19. To provide other acts of charity that help other sectors of society.
  20. To offer alternatives, strategies, policies, and training that help every taxpayer protect their interests, exercise their rights, and fulfill their obligations.

How we serve you

From classroom to compliance calendar

TAPI’s public face is education: seminars that turn BIR rules into checklists accountants and owners can actually use. Behind that is a longer advocacy — a watchdog role on financial issues, a venue for dialogue with government, and a commitment that collection and taxpayer protection must move together.
